Kathrin Bentele is currently Artistic Director of the Kunsthalle Friart Fribourg.

From 2021 to 2025, she has served as the Director of the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf. She held curatorial positions at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, at Artists Space in New York, as well as at Kunsthaus Glarus, among others. Bentele has lectured and taught at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf; Cologne University; Art Academy Düsseldorf; Art Academy Münster; and Zurich University of the Arts. In recent years, she has realized and commissioned solo exhibitions with artists Jason Dodge (upcoming), Olga Balema, Wang Bing, Monica Majoli, Behrang Karimi, Fiona Connor, Jessica Vaughn, Angharad Williams, Yuki Kimura, among others, and conceived group exhibitions such as Passages, Song of Flight and A Portrait in Fragments which explored form, matter, and materiality as being connected to questions of memory and appearance/disappearance.
