Rewatch "Stedman, Lorrain, Denise, Doris, and Delroy", Xavier Michel and Eleni Papazoglou's performance for SOLO HOTEL***
For the third (***) and final installment of the SOLO HOTEL activation cycle this season, Caroline Rose Curdy and Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos invite Eleni Papazoglou and Xavier Michel. The two artists use performative or residual graphic gestures to intrude into the flow of lives that follow one another in the same hotel room. Stedman, Lorrain, Denise, Doris, and Delroy—we imagine them coming and going: checking in, a note in the notebook, a call to room service, brushing their teeth, checking out. These ritualized banalities speak as much to commonality as they do to indifference. What remains are ghosts, an object under the bed, a name in a register, the vague memory of a face.

Xavier Michel
Born in 1990 in Poitiers. Works in Paris and Barcelona.
After graduating with an engineering degree in 2013, he continued his training at the Pavillon Bosio in Monaco and then at the Villa Arson in Nice, where he obtained his Dnsep in 2017. He participated in the creation of the IVECONNU collective in Noisy-le-Sec, then joined the Cyberrance collective workshop in Romainville. For several years, he has been developing performance work in which he manipulates sculpture-tools in absurd and poetic settings. This practice borrows from object theater, circus, dance, and music, giving rise to a polysemic and sensitive language. In 2019, he took part in the Le Pavillon residency directed by Ange Leccia, then exhibited in various collective projects such as "In (En)Acting Roles “ (SB34, Brussels), ”Histoire d'un ciel en creux“ (Brasserie Atlas, Brussels), and collaborated with Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos for the exhibition ”Felicità Milieu des choses" at Poush Manifesto. In 2023, the Shed art center in Maromme invited him for his first solo exhibition entitled “Performance en permanence.” He is currently in residence at Hangar: Centre de producció i recerca d'arts visuals in Barcelona.
