Round table with Grégory Chatonsky, Hilary Galbreaith, Fabien Giraud, Lauren Huret, and Philip Timischl
Hosted by critic and curator Jill Gasparina

The arrival of mass-market generative AIs at the end of 2022 has rekindled a long-standing debate on the instrumental dimension of artificial intelligences, their (im-)moral nature, and even their possible contribution to the future extinction of humanity. In the more specific field of art, they continue to raise burning questions about intellectual and artistic property, the automation of creation with a view to discarding artists, and their ethical and ecological responsibilities.

Against this backdrop, the two panels at “I AM IA” give the floor to artists who have been bringing AI into their studios, sometimes for decades, sometimes for a very short time. Between production stories, reflections on artistic work and its economy, worldbuilding and the pleasure of experimentation, these two discussion panels report on diverse experiences of co-creation.
