Aperto : Session d’écoute : repenser les lieux d’écoute et de fête

Wednesday 9 July 2025 at 5 pm

As part of the TOCA/MALA residency at Aperto.
A program of workshops and events – proposals by Kenza Belkadi, Dana Cavigny, Selma Hyka, Hyungee Kang, Maxime Le Godec, Gloria Mendes-Bernardet, and Dino Stravinskij.

Public event from 5 PM to 9 PM.

Proposed by Selma Akyh and Kenza Belkadi, this afternoon is conceived as a moment of collective listening and open discussion about how we inhabit and transform spaces of sound dissemination. We welcome the collectives Barbarry (North African, Afro, and Caribbean diasporas) and LOL – Liberating Ourselves Locally (a queer and decolonial collective based in Milan) for a gathering of sounds, stories, and a sonic nap. Two DJs from these collectives, DJinn Arezki (Barbarry) and Kunthug (LOL), will offer sets for a moment of attentive rest. This is about slowness, contemplation, and shared vulnerability.
What does a space of collective care sound like? Can listening become a way of encountering one another?

The invited collectives:

Barbarry
Barbarry brings together club music, visual creations, and performances through a political and decolonial approach. They introduce sounds from the Global South into hybrid party spaces.

LOL – Liberating Ourselves Locally
A space for celebration, care, and resistance, where Albanian diasporas, FLINTA, racialized, and queer communities come together to celebrate, connect, and deconstruct Eurocentrism. LOL operates with no budget, no hierarchy, and no filters.
