Discussion between Claire Le Restif, Marie-Sophie Carron de la Carrière and Vanina Géré

As part of La pensée corps, an exhibition by Alexandra Bircken and Lutz Huelle with the collaboration of Wolfgang Tillmans, Claire Le Restif, curator of the exhibition, welcomes Marie-Sophie Carron de la Carrière and Vanina Géré, both specialists in the questions that run through the research of these three artists.

Claire Le Restif is an art historian. Since 2003, she has directed the Centre d'art contemporain d'Ivry - Le Crédac.

She has organized exhibitions in France and abroad, notably at the Smack Mellon Center, Brooklyn; the Kunsthalle Palazzo, Liestal, Basel; the Kunsthaus Baseland, Basel; the School of Fine Arts in Madrid; the "Attitudes" Art Center in Geneva; Akbank Sanat in Istanbul; the Kunstverein in Nürnberg and the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver.
Since 2015, she is a member of the purchasing committee of the Frac Pays de la Loire. She is a member of IKT, an association of international curators and art critics.

Marie-Sophie Carron de la Carrière has been a curator since 2014 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, in charge of the fashion and textile collection from 1800 to the present day. Previously, she was curator at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, where she was notably the curator of the exhibition Blow-up 1952-2007, quand j'étais petit je ne faisais pas grand by François Morellet (2007) and the co-curator of the exhibition Basquiat (2010). At MAD, she curated the exhibition Margiela / Les années Hermès (2018) and the current exhibition Shocking! The Surrealist Years of Elsa Schiaparelli (2022).

Alumnus of ENS Lyon and an associate professor of English, Vanina Géré has been a professor of art history and theory at the Villa Arson since 2018, following the ÉNSAD Nancy (2013-2018). A PhD in Anglophone Studies and Art History (Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3), she is the author of a monograph on the work of Kara Walker, Les Mauvais sentiments : l'art de Kara Walker (2019), and has edited the anthology of critical texts October Files on Walker's work (November 2022).

Her current areas of research include critical digital art practices, the intersection of art and activism, English-language lesbian literature, and contemporary painting.
