La révolte à l'oeuvre

Tuesday 5 November 2013 at 7 pm

Patrick Javault is welcoming Catherine Francblin, art critic.

Niki de Saint Phalle, the woman with the rifle, the inventor of « dolls », would it be today the most misunderstood and neglected artists of the artistic stars-system, at least in this country? In her biography, Catherine Francblin seeks to return in all its complexity the personality of an artist who after bleeding painting, developed with his alter ego Tinguely disproportionate projects before renewing public art, inventing fabulous gardens where occult sciences play with psychoanalysis. An artist’s life literally consumed by her work, punctuated by a few brilliant actions, and in which writing plays an essantial role. By placing a current perspective on the work of this artist who wanted to speak to all, taking Gaudi or le Facteur Cheval as models, Francblin gives food for thought that could well lead to a real revaluation.

Catherine Francblin will sign the book Niki de Saint Phalle, La révolte à l’œuvre, on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 7pm at Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois gallery.
