Lancement de l'ouvrage Launch of the book «Scenario 21 12»

Wednesday 19 December 2012 at 7 pm

Conference participants will include artist Giulia Grossmann and anthropologist Vincent Basset. Julie Dabbagh, Mathilde Supe, and Capucine Vever will act as moderators.

Led by Julie Dabbagh, Mathilde Supe et Capucine Vever, Scenario 21 12 is an edited book project. This scientific book describes the phenomenon of the non-end of the world at the Bugarach village. Drawing on collaborative work between anthropologists, sociologists of religion, geologists, urban planners, art historians, and artists, this work questions interpretation and faith. Scenario 21 12, using different kinds of representation, including scientific proofs and collective chimeras, is to be seen as a maze where the interpretation must choose its own truth.

The Prodrome entity, positioning itself as a sign forecasting an event, develops during the 15 days preceding the fateful date of the end of the world – announced for December 21st, 2012 – the book’s analytical puzzle. On the occasion, Grossmann and Basset will present the film project « Où les Dieux nous touchent » (Where the gods touch us). In between fiction and ethnography, the movie compares the mystical tourism phenomenon between two mountains erected as « sacred mounts » by the new age network: Mexcio’s Quemado mountain and France’s Bugarach peak. The conference will present both the preliminary documentary and forthcoming work. Scenes of the movie and of possible locations for the future shooting will be shown.

Où les Dieux nous touchent, a movie in progress by French Kiss Production
The Scenario 21 12 edition was printed with the support of the Estienne school.
The book will be sold at the Foundation on Wednesday, December 19th, at a price of 28 Euros.
