Launching of the third issue of DÉCOR magazine

Wednesday 8 November 2023 at 7 pm

After a name, DÉCOR in 2021, and an adjective, VULGAIRE in 2022, the third magazine of the École des Arts Décoratifs will be launched under the prefix TRANS. For several decades, TRANS has been used to designate a person whose biological sex, assigned at birth, does not correspond to their gender identity. DECOR proposes to explore this theme whilst not being exclusively limited to it.

Produced by the École des Arts Décoratifs, Décor is an annual magazine dedicated to the major issues and upheavals that call for a reconfiguration of our contemporary environment. The cover of the magazine features a word that symbolises a theme of our time, from which a universe unfolds. Emergent creation and established artists converge, adopting complementary points of view from artistic fields as diverse as design, fashion and textiles, graphic design, fine art, space and image, as well as literature, the performing arts and the humanities.

Evening program:

  • Discussion on the title/prefix TRANS and the different ways in which it is used in the magazine: Lucile Cornet Richard and Patrick Laffont-De Lojo (members of the editorial board)

  • Discovery of two contributions: Loris Duchalet, Dur·e·s à queer and Sabine Mirlesse, Les portes de givre.

  • Presentation of the graphic design of the issue: Laurent Fetis, accompanied by Alec Vivier-Reynaud, a 3rd year student, and Emma Watson, a 4th year student in the Graphic Design and Multimedia Department of the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs.

  • Reading by Elise Legal poet and writer.
