Élise Legal, research–creation residency
From January to April 2026, artist Élise Legal is in residency Aperto
Born in Papeete and based in Nantes, Élise Legal is an artist and writer. Through a multidisciplinary approach that blends found images, drawing, and poetry, she pays particular attention to the way language and bodies coexist. She is particularly interested in poetry’s capacity to produce political effects in the real world, both through the images it conveys (such as the figure of the cursed poet) and through its friction with administrative, managerial, or political languages. She is also pursuing a research-creation thesis at Paris 8, and her texts have been published by Burn~Août, Même pas l'hiver, and Ma Bibliothèque.
