Caroline Bergvall

Author

Artist, poet and performer Caroline Bergvall works on the material of language and languages, from their structure to their evolution.

She invents a political use of bilingualism that contributes to renewing contemporary performance-poetry. Her projects alternate between audio pieces, collaborative performances, installations, and books, including most recently Drift (2014) and Alisoun Sings (Nightboat Books, 2019). She won the Cholmondeley Award for her poetic work as a whole, and was the first winner of the Prix Littéraire Bernard-Heidsieck – Centre Pompidou for interdisciplinary writing
