Working across sculpture, installation, and video, Charlie Malgat explores processes of material transformation.
Her practice brings into tension natural, soft, and perishable materials with digital recording devices, probing the plasticity of forms and their capacity to mutate, endure, decay, or regenerate.
Her work engages with the materiality of the body by blurring boundaries between the human and the non-human, the organic and the technological. Informed by scientific narratives, speculative thinking, and popular culture, she develops speculative ecosystems in which materials and images coexist through processes of digestion and contamination.
