Lives and works in Paris.

Jean-Marie Durand is a journalist and an author. Joint editor at Les Inrockuptibles from 1997 to 2018, successively in charge of the “media,” “debate,” and “art” sections, he now works for several media outlets (France Culture, The Art Newspaper, Ravages, La Revue du Crieur, Télérama…). He has published several essays, including Homo Intellectus. Enquête hexagonale sur une espèce en voie de réinvention (La Découverte); 1977, année électrique (Robert Laffont); Le Cool dans nos veines. Histoire d’une sensibilité (Robert Laffont), all of which seek to comprehend several crucial issues of our time and to map the political and cultural stakes that inhabit our contemporary societies: their obsessions, their breaking points, and their spaces of resistance.
