Paint Everyday

First monograph devoted to the work of Camila Oliveira Fairclough.

Painting is everywhere: in an advertising logo, printed on the pages of a magazine, between the spaces of a typographic character, in a signature or the pattern of a fabric… At least, that’s how artist Camila Oliveira Fairclough sees it, who has made the status of the subject in painting and the recurrence of the motif a central theme of her work.

The Brazilian-born artist draws her inspiration from everyday elements. Words, letters, and signs thus become graphic motifs and shapes in the same way as geometric elements and colors in a composition. Her works, whether painted or printed, refer to the history of abstraction, ready-made art, Brazilian concrete and visual poetry, and Pop Art. In this first monographic work, Camila Oliveira Fairclough presents a wide range of paintings created between 2014 and 2024. It is accompanied by two texts that shed new light on her work, written by art and graphic design historian Victor Guégan and independent exhibition curator Jill Gasparina.
