The Backstage of TextWork

Thursday 19 October 2023 at 5:30 pm

Public talk at Paris Internationale art fair

Conversation between Chus Martinez (Head of the institute of Art of the FHNW Academy of Arts and Design in Basel, Switzerland) and Martine Aballéa (artist), moderated by Marie Canet (curator and author).
Introduction by Anissa Touati (Curator at-large Paris Internationale) and Pauline Autet (Editorial coordinator of Textwork).

Conceived by the Fondation Pernod Ricard with the support of the French Ministry of Culture, TextWork is an online platform that publishes monographic texts by international authors on artists of the French scene. Each year, five new commissions are published in French and English, building the TextWork corpus while opening up spaces for dialogue and reflection on art in France.

On the occasion of Paris Internationale 2023, TextWork invites the author and curator Chus Martínez to dialogue with the artist Martine Aballéa, three years after the release of the TextWork she dedicated to her, titled Radiant Ignition. This monographic study, fed by remote exchanges with the artist during the Covid-19 pandemic, offers an occasion for discussion IRL around the research and writing process undertaken by the writer.

This public talk will be moderated by the author and curator Marie Canet, previously a member of the TextWork advisory committee, who followed and participated in the editorial process of this text.
