Programme associé. Carte blanche to Ulla von Brandenburg

Bring the sun ahead, a performance by Ulla von Brandenburg and Benoît Résillot.

In connection with the exhibition, "La société des spectacles", Ulla von Brandenburg and Benoît Résillot presents the performance entitled Bring the sun ahead [Amener le soleil devant]. This exhibition initiated under the curatorship of Marjolaine Lévy offers a reflection on the use of the stage, spectacle, artifice and all the ambiguities that this raises in very different artistic practices but both part of a modernist heritage

"Certain encounters or certain contexts reveal secret aspects of our identities that we neither know nor control.

Exchange, imitation, the claim of a difference or a singularity can start a dialogue well before words. The individual influences the collective which, in return, shapes the individual... It can resemble a ritual, a form of dance.

Two performers enter the gallery. They bring costumes, props and musical instruments. A play area is marked on the ground with a long ribbon. This symbolic space changes in nature depending on how it is used or ignored. Entries into the space summon absent people, characters appear, forgotten or invisible or, on the contrary, familiar figures. Their encounters give rise to fragments of fiction."
