Clarissa Baumann

Artist

Born in 1988 in Rio de Janeiro, she lives in Montpellier.

Her practice crosses multiple disciplines (choreography, sound, text), creating dialogues between the body, architecture and memory. She explores the phonetic, poetic, fictive and cultural cracks infiltrated in the nearly invisible gestures of everyday life, or in the narratives of the places and people she meets.
 
Clarissa Baumann completed the master’s degree exerce in choreographic studies at the CCN of Montpellier (2018 – 2020), after she graduated from Ecole des Beaux-arts de Paris (2012-2014). In Brazil, she obtained a degree in industrial design (ESDI, Rio de Janeiro) and has participated in various circus and contemporary dance training.
As part of the exhibition Les Voyageurs in 2015 and then the Salon de Montrouge in 2016, she received two prizes awarded by the Beaux-arts de Paris. In 2016, she was also awarded the Adagp Revelation Arts Plastiques prize. Her work has been presented at : IAC – Institute of Contemporary Art (Villeurbanne, France); ART FEM II, Women’s Biennial of Art of Macau (Macau, China); Kunstwerk Carlshütte (Büdelsdorf, Germany); Palais de Tokyo (Paris, France); Forum Hermès (Tokyo, Japan); Art On Paper, BOZAR (Brussels, Belgium); 61st Salon de Montrouge (Montrouge, France); Palais des Beaux-Arts (Paris, France).
