Marie-Mam Sai Bellier
Marie-Mam Sai Bellier (1994) is a typographic artist, teacher, and researcher of French and Gambian descent.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and based in Paris, she explores new creative paths that transcend the limits of the Latin alphabet. She draws inspiration from the idea of a fusion of the arts—through the materiality of her drawing—to enrich her practice by combining it with other mediums. Her approach examines typographic material and its history, viewing it as a sociocultural testament to a global anthropology. As the founder of the publishing house and type foundry Diorama Type Partners, she is also a member of the post-binary typography collective Bye Bye Binary. Whether working for clients or on personal projects, she explores the relationship between content and symbols, seeking a new emotional dimension by treating ornamentation as a universal medium—both poetic and political. Following “L’Amour en cage” at the CAC Passages in Troyes in January 2025, “Die and retry” at the Hôtel Van Eetvelde in Brussels in June 2025, her third solo show, “Coeur de Marie,” is on view at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nancy through July 2026; she is preparing for a three-month residency at the Pernod Ricard Foundation in late 2026.
