Born in France in 1986, Rosa Joly lives and works between Berlin, Paris and New York.

She is a graduate of the ENSBA Lyon and the HFBK in Hamburg. Her art practice is multidisciplinary, and her installations usually combine sculptures, films, photographs, drawings and assemblages. Her eminently analogue approach is pervaded by a DIY or experimental spirit, inspired by constant research, leading her to enter into conversation with the work of artists who have
preceded and inspired her. Among them we find for instance Jay DeFeo, a Californian artist who inspired her latest film Auf dem Zahnfleisch (2023), and Chantal Akerman. Rosa Joly is currently a resident at 99 Canal in New York and participated in the Triangle-Astérides project in Marseille in 2021. Her work has been exhibited at the Kunstverein Bielefeld, the MEP (Paris), Scheusal (Berlin), the Kunsthaus in Hamburg and La Traverse (Marseille). In autumn of the same year, she participated in the creation of Scheusal, an independent exhibition venue in Berlin.
