JOY
JOY is an association founded by curator Marie-Laure Lapeyrère and artist Morgan Courtois in May 2020 in the midst of a confinement experience. Thought to remedy the lack of aesthetic stimulation linked to the closure of cultural places, it consists in the production of artists’ posters for a 4 x 3 m billboard located at 124 rue Henri Barbusse in Aubervilliers. Since September 2021, the association JOY has invited Anne Bourse, Florian Bézu, Clément Rodzielski, Sylvie Auvray, Simon Bergala, Hélène Fauquet, Isabelle Cornaro, Morgan Courtois, Shanta Rao, Marina Xenofontos, Özgür Atlagan and Joan Ayrton.
After a first season dedicated to the use of a single panel, JOY will be deployed from October 2021 on six panels spread throughout Seine-Saint-Denis: in Pantin, Aubervilliers and La Courneuve. A way to bypass the central axis of the capital, through a route that starts at Porte de la Villette. This six-panel exhibition will feature works by Xinyi Cheng, Thomas Hirschhorn, Jennifer Caubet, David Douard, Paul Mignard and Brice Dellsperger.
With the support of the Pernod Ricard Foundation, JOY is launching in October artists’ editions limited to 20 copies in A2 format (printed by the Bordas workshops). These editions of the 18 invited artists will be exhibited and available at the FIAC stand of the Pernod Ricard Foundation as well as in the Foundation’s bookstore and on the association’s website.
For season 2, JOY benefits from the complicity of the landlord Ville&Médias and receives the support of the Département de la Seine-Saint-Denis, the Direction des Affaires Culturelles – Ville d’Aubervilliers, the Ville de La Courneuve, the ville de Pantin and the Adagp.
